70 sergeant positions to be createdAs part of the Deed of Agreement signed during the latest round of enterprise bargaining, The Police Association and The Victoria Police Force have been examining the introduction of additional supervisory sergeant positions. In determining the number of additional supervisory sergeant positions and where they will be allocated, the parties considered a number of factors, including the number of inexperienced members at a work location, management of prisoners and current supervisory ratios. Taking these and other factors into consideration, the parties have agreed to the creation of 70 supervisory sergeant positions at police stations across The Association is pleased with this agreement and believes that the creation of the additional positions will be of great benefit to members, providing improved supervisory ratios and greater career progression opportunities for members. The Association and the Force will further discuss the priorities for filling these positions. The positions will be filled progressively, with the first 22 to be advertised shortly. Visit the industrial relations section of www.tpav.org.au to view the locations that have been earmarked to receive the additional positions or click HERE. Non-supervisory sergeant review updateThe Force and the Association have also been considering the creation of non-supervisory sergeant positions for the Technical Support Unit, Special Operations Group, Prosecutions and the Forensic Services Department. The evidence gathering phase of the review has been completed and the Police Association is currently involved in negotiations on the outcomes of those reviews. Greg Davies Secretary Designate |
