Holiday Homes
The Association owns and provides high-quality and moderately priced holiday accommodation for the benefit of members and their families.

The Association provides holiday accomodation for members at the following locations.

Echuca

Lakes Entrance

Port Fairy

Cowes

South Melbourne

Tawonga South

Each holiday home/unit is fully furnished and equipped except for blankets, bed linen, pillows, towels and tea towels.

Booking Rules and Procedures

Rules of occupancy
  • All applications for the holiday homes must be in writing.
  • Bookings for the holiday homes are allocated by a ballot process.
  • Holiday homes bookings are made to members of the Victoria Police Force who are members of The Police Association.
     
Bookings are made on a priority basis:

1.  Members who are financial members of The Police Association
2.  Retired members who contribute as Outside Members to the Police Association (Victoria) Benefit Fund
3.  Life Members
4.  Widows of Police Association members
5.  Retired Members of The Police Association
6.  Staff members of The Police Association

 
- Any bookings not requested in a ballot, will be posted on The Police Association website and members may book these vacancies by telephoning the Association.  Bookings will be made on a “first in best dressed” basis.

- The member booking the home using his/her Victoria Police registered number, must be an occupant of the home for the whole period of occupancy or the member’s current spouse or partner must be an occupant during the whole term of the occupancy.  Where this is not the case, the occupants will be required to vacate the home immediately.

- All bookings for the holiday homes are preferably made for a seven day period from Sunday to Sunday.

- Weekend or partial bookings are only available if a location is vacant at the last minute.

- Partial bookings are a minimum of 2 nights at a cost of $75.00 per night.

- The maximum period for a booking is 14 days,     14 day bookings are not available during the school holidays or high demand periods.

- Requests and bookings made by member’s spouse or partner, who are non-members are always verified with the member.

- A non-refundable deposit of $50.00 must be paid within fourteen days of booking.  Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the booking

- The balance must be paid at least four weeks prior to occupancy. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the booking.

- The homes are not available for occupation prior to 2.30 p.m. on the first day of rental.

- The homes must be vacated by 10.00am on the day of departure.

- The accommodation booked, is restricted to the rental of the unit/house as described in our correspondence.  No other form of structure is permitted on the property whatsoever – i.e. tent, caravan or similar.

- The Association's insurance does not cover theft of personal items owned by the tenant while occupying any of our holiday homes.  The member should ensure that personal belongings are covered under the Temporary Removal Clause in your policy.

- There is no restriction on the amount of times members use the holiday homes over the year, as long as the member, or the member's wife or partner stay for the whole period of occupancy.


 

Written Applications

Written applications will be accepted up to twelve months in advance, but will not be finalised more than six months in advance.

Phone Bookings

If no applications have been received at the six-month 'cut-off' time, the facility will be made available for a phone booking.

Ballot Bookings
  • Applications will not be finalised more than six months in advance.

  • Ballots are conducted 9.00 am on the Monday morning 6 months prior to occupancy.

  • In the case of multiple applications from eligible members, preference is given to serving members of the force who have not used any of the holiday homes over the past five years.

Please refer to our vacancy listings which show the availability dates for the various houses several months in advance. This will give you an idea of what is available.  To avoid disappointment, it is advised to check with us personally before applying as last minute changes can occur. 

 

Please note that there is always high demand for homes, so the earlier you can plan ahead the better.
