Proposed sale of land owned by The Police Association situated at Coldstream

The Police Association purchased a parcel of land situated at Coldstream in 1970 as a future investment for members. The value of this property has remained static for some time. Professional advice sought by The Police Association indicates that this property is situated in a green wedge area and unable to be developed under current government planning policy and, as such, urban development of the land is not contemplated.

At its monthly meeting held on 1 June 2010, the Executive Committee determined, by way of motion that the property be sold and the proceeds be put towards the future purchase of, and / or development of existing property, owned by The Police Association.

NOTION OF MOTION FOR 2010 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

“THAT THE PARCEL OF LAND OWNED BY THE POLICE ASSOCIATION SITUATED AT COLDSTREAM BE OFFERED FOR SALE BY AN ‘EXPRESSION OF INTEREST’ PROCESS WITH THE NET PROCEEDS TO BE EXCLUSIVELY USED TO PURCHASE, AND / OR DEVELOP EXISTING PROPERTIES OWNED BY THE POLICE ASSOCIATION AND FURTHER THAT THIS SALE BE CONDUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH RULE 28 (e) OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE POLICE ASSOCAITON WHICH STATES:

 Powers of the Executive

28 (e) to give instructions for the purchase, sale, lease or mortgage or other disposal of any freehold or leasehold property for the purpose of the Association, provided that no such property is to be purchased, sold or mortgaged unless pursuant to a resolution of members present at a general meeting.”
